Copyright/trademark question?

I am looking to start a website and publish my comic, which a couple of my friends and I have made. but before we do, wanted to know if we should copyright/trademark our work like, character names etc., story line, title of the comic, our company name etc.? we do hope it will grow, thats why we are wondering if we should copyright/trademark? and if so, who and/or where do we go to trademark/copyright?
