What do i need to know when puting the ad on ebay?
Any other info is appreciated. There are far more things you need to know than can be answered here.
You need a PayPal account. To confirm your account you either need a credit card or checking account.
You box up your phone and take it to the post office.
Shipping can cost different amounts to different destinations.
Don't ship anything until you get paid for it. Some people use only their bank accounts on PayPal and you are paid with an echeck. This is just like a regular paper check. Do not ship until it clears.
You need to know that eBay charges fees. You need to know that PayPal charges fees. You need to know you shouldn't use other peoples photos as this can get your listing shut down. You need to know that scammers from Nigeria love to bid on electronics and send you fake PayPal emails saying you've been paid. You need to know that PayPal will offer you no protection at all for items over $250 if you don't use signature required when you mail it. You need to know that sometimes the post office breaks things so you need to buy postal insurance. You need to know that about 7% of the time people will bid and not pay. You need to know about that many also ask for their money back just because they change their minds.
Take you pictures then box up your phone and take it to the post office. Ask them to weigh it for you. You use that weight to enter into eBays shipping calculator. This will tell each bidder how much it would cost to send it to them. Guessing will only cause you problems.
Putting "No Refunds" in your listing means nothing in the real world. If there is the slightest thing wrong then you have to say so. If there is even a mark on the box that you didn't mention in your listing they can complain to eBay and get their money back.
When it comes to getting paid you need to know that PayPal will often put a hold on your payment until 3 weeks have passed or until the buyer leaves feedback. That means you need extra money handy to ship the phone. State in your listing that "I only ship to PayPal confirmed addresses". I also strongly suggest you only ship inside your country. International shipping can open a whole new can of worms for you to deal with. Wrap the phone well in several layers of bubble wrap.
Does it all sound a bit more complicated than you thought? Wait until you sell a high dollar item and suddenly you find that PayPal had to give their money back because they complained to their credit card issuer that someone used their card without permission. You'll start going bald like me from pulling your hair out.
It's not my intention to keep you from selling on eBay. It's my intention to inform you that there are always risks involved. Even I who has been selling on eBay for more than 13 years still get ripped off now and then.
